Falls Forest Retreat is now the home and business of one of Australia's leading environmental writers - Mary E. White - author of seven major books on the history and development of the Australian continent. Together with son Derek, Mary is keen to develop the educational role of the Falls and covenant the property's forests', protecting biodiversity. Before Mary and Derek bought Falls Forest Retreat the English reality TV show Eden was filmed there. This show featured a group of young people living off the land for 100 days in grass and timber huts, surviving on what they caught and ate. But like all reality TV shows, a few fibs were told. Falls Forest Retreat's real accommodation is six self-contained brick, two-storey townhouses, fitted out with mini kitchen, TV, video and all modern conveniences. Right alongside, and joined by covered walkway, is the communal dining area with sunken lounge room and huge cosy fireplace. This is ideal for families, family reunions, environmental groups or workplaces, looking for somewhere to catch up, relax or learn in a beautiful natural setting. Other activities include billiards and table tennis, swimming in the saltwater pool or mountain biking or bushwalking. Crowdy Head National Park and its beautiful beaches is just 20 minutes away as are the spectacular lookouts and mountain peaks of Coorabakh National Park.
