Trees are not all you'll see at the Lorne Valley Macadamia Farm and Café. While there are certainly 1400 trees on the farm's lush green paddocks, the café and its beautiful outlook is what makes the place really special. The modern, Australian-style café seats 55 people. Bring a whole busload (by arrangement) or just your special friend or family. Seating is both indoors and out, shaded or sunny. During the winter, the café is cosy warm with the help of the rustic pot belly stove. Food lovers will adore the cakes and muffins are made on the premises by Jo Scott, who with her husband Ray and local workers, run the NSW North Coast macadamia farm. There's also real coffee and a huge selection of fruit and herbal teas, including macadamia tea. The café is BYO if you would like to savour a drop of wine with your lunch. But before you do, try the farm's fresh oven-roasted macadamia nuts in seven different flavours. After the meal you might like to indulge in some genuine macadamia ice cream or take home some nougat or home-made chocolates for later. Gourmet treats are also packaged for gift giving. Talks about the farm and the growing and processing of Australian macadamias happen every day at 11am or 2pm (by request), so book in if you would like your family or group to participate in one of these. |
